Whether Ornamental Or Functional, These Needle Rolls Are Beautiful Works Of Art

Needle rolls were originally made to carry knitting needle, crochet hooks or sewing needles.  The owner would make cloth pouches with compartments where all of their needles could be kept together in one spot and then roll it all up and tie the roll with a string or ribbon.  This made it easy to keep track of the needles and also made it easy to carry their needles with them when traveling.

Today we make needle rolls for ornamental purposes and they are also used for pin cushions.  Combinations of cross stitch and blackwork stitching as well as ribbon and bead adornments create beautiful heirloom pieces.

Below is just one example of a needle roll.  Happy Stitching!
